Community Sensitization

Community sensitization
There is constant misunderstanding between HRD’s and members of the public which breeds conflict. This could be attributed to lack of awareness among the public on the role of HRD’s (including who they are). In some cases, members of the public have perpetrated human rights violations against HRD’s (such as supporting wrongful prosecution through false testimony or committing assault).

To address the above problem KNCHR will conduct targeted sensitization forums for women, men, youth, undertake Focus Group Discussions with the identified groups and produce and disseminate Information Education and Communication (IEC) as well as & Behaviour Change Communication (BCC) materials. KNCHR expects that there shall be enhanced awareness among community members regarding roles of HRD’s. Consequently there will be improved working relationship between HRD’s and the public.

As an intermediate outcome KNCHR anticipates that the public will have an improved understanding of the importance and roles of HRD’s and how to support their work. Consequently human rights violations perpetrated against HRD’s will reduce. The project assumes that the public will be willing to internalize the purpose and roles of HRD’s; that the public will have the capacity to understand legal frameworks relating to HRD’s; that the public will support HRD’s in the course of their work; and that HRD’s will be willing to work closely with the public
