Mr. Yaovi SRONVIE,
Rapporteur General
Commission Nationale des Droits de l’Homme -Togo,
Republic of Togo,
Togo.
Cher Monsieur,
RE: MESSAGE OF CONDOLENCE FROM THE KENYA NATIONAL COMMISSION ON HUMAN RIGHTS (KNCHR)
On behalf of the Management team and all members of the Kenya National Commission on Human Rights (KNCHR) and on my own behalf, I wish to sincerely express our deepest sympathies and condolences; and share with you this moment of grief and mourning following the untimely passing on of the President of the National Commission for Human Rights (CNDH) of Togo, Madam Eugénie Nakpa Polo in Lomé after a short illness.
The Kenya National Commission on Human Rights fraternity shares the loss of your President. Indeed Madam Eugénie Nakpa Polo was a servant of the Republic of Togo having been the President of Commission Nationale des Droits de l’Homme -Togo since 2019.
At the Kenya National Commission on Human Rights, we honor her memory for being the first woman to hold this post; and for her distinguished knowledge of human rights issues in Togo, which also saw her take the role of the Secretary of State in charge of Human Rights. She was indeed a fine connoisseur of human rights issues.
Her demise is a real blow not only to the human rights defenders and advocates in Togo but in Africa and the World at large. The Kenya National Commission on Human Rights thus expresses deepest and heartfelt condolences to the immediate and extended family members of Madam Eugénie Nakpa Polo and CNDH staff; and we are reaching out to comfort all of you during this time of grief.
Yours sincerely;
Dr. Bernard Mogesa, PhD, CPM
Chief Executive Officer/ Secretary to The Commission
