___________________________________________________________________
On behalf of the Management team and all members of the Kenya National Commission on Human Rights (KNCHR) and on my own behalf, I wish to sincerely express our deepest sympathies and condolences; and share with you this moment of grief and mourning following the untimely passing on of the Chairman of the Cameroon National Commission on Human Rights and Freedoms, Dr. Chemuta Divine Banda.
The Kenya National Commission on Human Rights fraternity share and feel the loss of your Chairman. Dr. Chemuta Divine Banda has been instrumental in harnessing close collaborative working relationship between our respective National Human Rights Institutions. At the Kenya National Commission on Human Rights, we fondly reminisce to the interaction shared with him and members of CNCHR Secretariat - Ms. Mabelle Nforchu and Mr. Gabriel Nonetchoupo following their sojourn to our Commission from 3rd to 6th February, 2020.
During our engagements it was evidently clear that Dr. Chemuta Divine Banda had the passion of up scaling the human rights work of the Cameroon National Commission on Human Rights and Freedoms to achieve greater autonomy, more credibility and efficiency. KNCHR takes cognizance of Dr. Banda’s stewardship as the Chairman of the NCHRF since 2003.
During the 17 years at the helm, he also fervently advocated for the respect of human rights within the Network of African National Human Rights Institutions - NANHRI and was indeed a valued member. The Kenya National Commission on Human Rights thus expresses deepest and heartfelt condolences to the immediate and extended family members of Dr. Chemuta Divine Banda and NCHRF staff; and we are reaching out to comfort all of you during this time of grief.
