The KNCHR is mandated to receive and investigate complaints about alleged abuses of human rights and to take steps to secure appropriate redress. Members of the public can present their complaints at any of KNCHR’s offices in Nairobi, Kitale or Wajir in person, by letter, fax, telephone or email. KNCHR is keenly aware that justice ought to be rendered in a timely manner and therefore, each case is handled swiftly and processed within reasonable time and all complainants are informed of the outcome of their matters in writing.
The KNCHR may, subject to the consent of the complainant resolve any matter brought before it by conciliation, mediation or negotiation. The KNCHR also plans to use Public Interest Litigation for strategic and high impact human rights matters.
